Angels of Hope (Orphanage)
Philip and Gladis Manickam are husband-and-wife team who run an orphanage called 'Angels of hope' in Chennai, India. They currently home thirteen orphaned and homeless children. Building work for their new orphanage in Coimbatore wasn't without difficulties but overall it proved to be a good experience and things went more smoothly than was originally anticipated.
Bosnia
See below items made from the fabric we delivered to Alisa at the CCV in Sarajevo. Also, a recent project took us to the outskirts of Sarajevo; we learned of a hospital for people with severe mental and physical disabilities: Zovik hospital–a state-run institution in desperate need of repair.
Guinea-Bissau
Recently deceased Muminatu Djalo had sadly left seven children. The oldest child (Fatumatu, at seventeen years of age) is now responsible for feeding the family but she has no work and all seven of them are in a precarious situation. Another child of twelve, Alfa Sane, is also living with the family.
Hasib (Bosnia)
A married father of four, Hasib is also and a landmine victim. He was supplied with a made-to-measure prosthesis from Otto Bock in Sarajevo. We also supplied shoes and clothes for his four children and put a new roof on his home.
Humanitarian Aid Packs
Alisa had asked us in June to make up food parcels and hygiene packs for 50 of their members most in need. Alisa is the Director of the CCV (Concentration Camp Victims) network.
Kiang, The Gambia
We met up with the head teacher who showed us what needed doing…it was a building away from the main block with two classrooms. The doors were hanging off, the floors were broken up and the roof was full of holes. We decided to repair it and supply thirty new tables and thirty benches
Merima's New Scooter
Merima now has a mobility scooter so she can get out of the house and be more independent. She also benefits from £51 per month Sponsorship. See how the new scooter was received–there were smiles all around!
Mislavka's New Roof
Mislavka is from Gračanica, Bosnia. She now has the exterior walls of her home insulated; new windows and doors; a new roof; washing machine; school equipment; clothes and shoes have also been supplied for her son.
Mustafa's New Home
Mustafa is from Dzakola, Bosnia. A small house has been built for him and he looks a totally different man these days. We still help him out with the odd thing here and there but his whole attitude and outlook on the future is much better.
Ramza's Plight
Ramza has lived a hard life. In addition to supplying her with essential items we repaired all the shrapnel damage to her home and repaired the water supply to her bathroom – she appears much happier since this work has been carried out.
